South African electricity

The South African electricity supply is 220/230 volts AC 50 HZ. Most plugs are 15 amp 3-prong (round, i.e. NOT like UK standard) or (less commonly) 5 amp 2-prong, with round pins (similar to the European standard).

SAAO will supply standard (SA) plugs and participants would need to bring their own adaptors. that can be purchased at airports and locally. US-made appliances may need a transformer.
