| Description: | A few weeks ago, the 8th European VLBI Network Symposium was held in Torun, Poland, almost exactly 12 years after the 2nd Symposium was held there in 1994 - at that time coinciding with the inauguration of the new 32-m radio telescope. This telescope is now a key element of the European network, contributing to many new results, especially at 6.7 GHz (the
methanol maser line). The recent symposium attracted almost twice as many participants as in 1994 (including a large influx of young, enthusiastic students and post-docs); only a dozen of the original participants were present at both meetings. The 1994 image includes some distinguished (and very fresh faced!) ASTRON and JIVE employees (past and present). These include Jean Casse, Harvey Butcher and Richard Schilizzi.
