UFOs Over Westerbork

Submitter: Paul Kemper
Description: This is a simulation of a moving source as seen by the WSRT. Each frame of the animation corresponds to a full 12-hour observation of a source; the source speed starts at 0 in the first frame, and gradually increases to 2.5 arcmin/hour in the last frame.
The true trajectory of the source is actually a straight line starting at the phase center, and going diagonally to the lower-right corner. Because of the WSRT's one-dimensional instantaneous Point Spread Function, we do not observe this trajectory in the maps.
For comparison, look at the 18 oct image by Oleg Smirnov, who did the same exercise for the VLA.
