The DIGESTIF focal plane array demonstrator

| Description: | The DIGital Early Stage Tile In Focus or DIGESTIF is the first demonstrator towards the APERTIF focal plane array system for the WSRT. DIGESTIF employs full digital beam forming with up to 60 elements and will be used to feed our beam forming, sensitivity and calibration studies. RT5 of the WSRT will be dedicated to DIGESTIF for a couple of months starting at the end of March. The MFFE will be replaced by a dual polarized array and 60 coax cables will be installed. Via a down-conversion unit the signal will be fed into the LOFAR Initial Test Station hardware that will be moved from Exloo to Westerbork. DIGESTIF operates in the 1.0 - 1.7 GHz frequency band. |
