Worldwide Public GPS Receivers

Submitter: James M Anderson
Description: Calibration of the delays introduced by the ionosphere is important for long wavelength radio astronomy. Measurements of the ionosphere by GPS (and GLONASS and Galileo) instruments are playing an important role in learning to develop ionospheric models for radio astronomy calibration. Green points on the maps show the locations of GPS receivers with publicly available data. The coverage in southern California in the United States approaches the density of stations which will be present in LOFAR.
