| Description: | This is the first image produced with the recently enlarged LOFAR CS1 array, which now has 24 lowband (LBA) dipoles. For comparison, an earlier image produced with 16 dipoles is also shown. Both images have the same integration time (3 days) and the same number of subbands (4). The increase of dipoles by a factor 1.5 gives 2.25 as many baselines, so a much better uv-coverage. The resulting reduction in PSF sidelobe noise is clearly seen. |
