X-Shooter Camera assembly

Description: This daily image shows the X-Shooter Camera assembly, ready to be mounted into the X-Shooter spectrograph, which is currently being integrated here at ASTRON. The optics for the camera exists of three aspherical lenses, two made of Zinc Selenide and one of Calcium Fluoride. The picture shows also the specifically shaped baffles mounted on the front and back of the camera, needed to prevent straylight from reaching the detector. The connector on the pictures is used to monitor the temperature of the camera lenses during cool-down and operation.
