| Description: | The Short wave Arm (SW arm) of the Spectrometer Main Optics (SMO) for the MIRI (Mid Infra Red Instrument) for JWST is finally joined by its twin the Long wave Arm (LW Arm), In order to keep development, production and verification time and cost as low as possible the two arms are each others mirror image.
The SW Arm is situated on the left side of the optical test bench (see daily image 07-12-07) and the LW arm is located on the right. A though and thorough verification program will be followed in order to guarantee the best possible performance. Part of this verification program is an optical alignment test; see the daily image of 10-12-07.
