| Description: | On the 12th of December the LofarTafel foundation presented the Lofar Magazine, "Sensing the universe, the earth and surroundings". The magazine (above right) describes the activities of many of the parties involved in LOFAR, especially those that are centred around the core area in Exloo, Borger-Odoorn. The foundation's aim is to support the various spin-offs that can be expected by having the world's largest telescope at your back door!
One of the plans calls for an lookout tower to be placed close to the superterp (above, top left) - so that the general public can get a fantastic view of the LOFAR core stations and the surrounding nature area. The tower encompasses the design of the LOFAR logo. More ambitious projects include a partialy submerged visitor's and conference centre. |
