Description: | Presented here is the EMBRACE hexbox, which will be used for testing the rf-functionality of a "hexunit" (see below). This will be done at the firm Major Electronics, where 1500 hexunits will be produced. Major will deliver fully tested EMBRACE hardware. The hexbox is a series-production test facility to test all active channels for correct operation. A smart mechanical lift is used to make sure the hexunits can be ergonomically placed inside the box. Aluminum foil and absorbers are placed on all sides inside the box (measuring 1x1x1 meter) to create a well-defined measurement setup. In this way, the outside human/radio/environment disturbance is reduced. On the bottom of the box a dipole antenna with signal generator input is used as reference source. The first test results with an previous hexunit (new design will be assembled on 22-01-2009) were as expected, within a 3dB range. A hexunit is an assembly of one hexboard, 24 antennas (12 active channels) and 12 profiles. |
