Description: | This is the third generation Centre-board. It is located in the middle of an Embrace tile, where it takes care of all the control and the combining of the RF signals. The control is done through an Ethernet connection via one of the coaxial cables. The on-board FPGA translates the Ethernet packets to the local communication protocols. After combining all the signals, 2 analogue beams are available for further processing. Temperature and voltages of the board are monitored, and switchable True Time delays are available for more instantaneous bandwith.
This third generation design is the last one before entering the full production stage of Embrace hardware. 250 Centre-boards will be produced and tested at Major Electronics. First tests look good, intensive testing is in progress. |
