LOFAR is the first of the glut of SKA precursors that is producing (a trickle of) actual data, and is therefore viewed with a sullen mixture of awe and envy. The resentment is exacerbated by the fact that, of the Major Players, the Dutch are the only non-native Enlish speakers, so that some of our measured and conciliatory remarks get lost in translation.
This shady but unidentified individual was spotted taking surreptitious pictures of the (admittedly still a little soggy) LOFAR site near Exloo, in the Netherlands. A pointless exercise, of course, since the LOFAR secrets are exceptionally well-concealed. |
