| Description: | The development of most of the 400 hectares of the LOFAR core area into a region of outstanding natural beauty involves many different and diverse parties. Many of those involved are presented above via this rather impressive LOFAR construction board. If you are curious to explore the core area around Exloo over the upcoming holiday period, the board is located next to the "ASTRON boerderij" (farmhouse), alongside the High Band Antenna (HBA) storage area. One assumes, though one can never be quite sure with artistic talent, that the illustrator was inspired by LOFAR's potential to detect non-thermal radio emission from the magnetosphere of large extrasolar planets - let's hope so anyway! |
