Digestif Active Element Test Box

| Description: | Presented here is the test-box used for the testing of the active elements of Digestif. All the elements of the new frontend will be tested to make sure gain and DC power are correct. The new frontend has 144 elements, each with a three stage amplifier (approx. 40 dB gain) on a Rogers pcb attached to the aluminum Vivaldi antenna. The box will be used to test these amplifier stages, comparing one element to another. Absolute gain and noise measurements will be performed separately. When all elements have been tested, the new frontend will be installed in RT5 of the WSRT, replacing the previous Digestif frontend. This test-box used to be the EMBRACE "hexbox" (daily image 26/01/2009). Such reuse is a clear example of the excellent collaboration within the R&D projects of ASTRON. |
