Description: | During the last surveys busy week, Cygnus A was observed in the low end of the LOFAR frequency range (10-30 MHz). Calibrating this data is certainly a challenge due to low sensitivity, stronger RFI and the disturbing ionosphere. We have given both raw (uncalibrated) and calibrated images above so you can see the difference. The images were made with MeqTrees, using data taken from two consecutive nights. Each has a bandwidth of about 1.5 MHz. Six LOFAR stations were used in the observation. The change in resolution is illustrated by the point spread function, given on the lower left corner of the zoomed in images. |
