LOFAR Single Station Meeting

Submitter: Jean-Mathias Griessmeier
Description: So you think LOFAR is all about one big telescope? Of course this is the main goal. But there will be times when not all of the stations can be used for the same observation. What to do then? Leave the unused stations idle? Of course not! To increase the total observation time, schemes are being developed on how to use a LOFAR station in single-station or stand-alone mode.

This subject is particularly interesting for the international LOFAR stations. For this reason it is only fitting that the "2nd Single Station Meeting" was held in Bochum (21.1.2010). This was a good occasion to present ongoing and planned hardware development and to discuss how to share customized software. Besides, we were impressed by the architecture of the university of Bochum and by the quality of local cake.
