| Description: | Anyone who has watched the 1957 Kleibrink film "De Bouw van een Radiotelescoop" will appreciate the important role film can play in the historical documentation of a major scientific endeavour. About 2 years ago, we decided that a film documenting the construction of LOFAR would be an important addition to ASTRON's historical records. Over a year ago, we started to take film of various aspects of the construction and roll-out of LOFAR - we have had film crews in the fields around Exloo, at the factories of our contractors and most recently at ASTRON itself. Several key individuals in the project have been interviewed, including many ASTRON staff. We hope to put all this material together in a film - "Building LOFAR". Michiel van Haarlem and Corina Vogt (see images above) have been working hard to interview as many people as possible and to begin drafting a script for the movie.
