Temporary Accomodation

| Description: | Due to an unfortunate but manly planning decision, the Executive Wing of the ASTRON building was demolished before the work on the sumptuous penthouse quarters in the new building has even begun. In principle, this should not be a serious problem, since Top Managament spends most of its time outside Dwingeloo, leading the world, flogging the ASTRON wares, scrounging for money and servicing the needs of our mother organisation. But they do need to come home occasionally, to reconnect and recharge, and this has required some improvisation. It is obviously no longer appropriate, in this day and age, for TM to reside among the workforce, not even among the Astronomers. A modern manager has an Open Door, but at the end of a long corridor. Therefore, TM has opted for temporary accomodation in Dwingerderveld, the nearby National Park. As the picture shows, they have found that they can function with a bare minimum of office furniture: Just one red Scone (a.k.a. the Stone of Destiny), a flowering olive branch, and an advanced piece of uni-directional communication equipment that happened to be lying about in the Lab. As so often happens in unusual circumstances, the shared privations have led to a new Unity of Purpose. The availability of only one seat has, after some deft choreography, clarified the lines of command, and all noses are now pointing firmly in the same direction. Watch this space. |
