HALOGAS team meeting in Dwingeloo

Submitter: George Heald
Description: The HALOGAS project (see previous daily images) is a large WSRT program to observe and characterize the process of cold gas accretion in a sample of nearby spiral galaxies. The HALOGAS team is based here in Dwingeloo, but also has several members from international institutions. With a large project like this one, it's important to meet in person from time to time! During the second week of August, the first team meeting of the HALOGAS project has taken place here at ASTRON. Participants came from the US, Belgium, and Germany.

In addition to a full program of presentations and discussions about the progress and future of the project, the team also took an afternoon off to visit the WSRT and the core of LOFAR. And, of course, to enjoy the Dutch summer!
