Description: | Back in February, I was interviewed for the Dutch/Belgian edition of the National Geographic magazine, about my discovery of Hanny's Voorwerp. They were doing an item about people and their discoveries named after them, and for this they also wanted to do a photo-shoot. The set had to be located in a place well related to the discovery, so we ended up at ASTRON and more specifically the Westerbork Radio Synthesis Telescope! The WSRT has played an important role in understanding the nature of the voorwerp both as a standalone telescope and as part of the European VLBI Network. And here's one of the pictures made that day. The September NG issue, with this item in it, is now available at all good newsagents! |
