The e-VLBI Zoo

Submitter: Zsolt Paragi, Kristine Yun
Description: The international e-VLBI workshops always bring together an interesting mix of networking engineers and researchers from various fields, from all over the globe. This is our great e-VLBI Zoo, where we work together to make present and future radio astronomy instruments more flexible and effective. This year we gathered in Perth, Western Australia, to share our scientific and technical results. Australia is a candidate site for the SKA, and SKA will be a real-time telescope, which was reflected in the title of the workshop as well: "e-VLBI and the Path to the Square Kilometre Array".

Completely independent of the above simile, it took place in the Perth Zoo, in a most lovely environment. During the coffee breaks we had distinguished visitors like Rocky, the penguin, and a python. Unfortunately the Meerkat house was closed this time, but we would like to ensure everybody that it was only a mere coincidence.
