Today's Homework: LOFAR Pulsar Data Reduction

| Description: | From January 3rd-5th, 2011, the ASTRON Astronomy Group hosted four undergraduate physics/astronomy students from the Universiteit van Amsterdam: Jaromir Camphuijsen, Jelmer de Boer, Eline Wieldraaier, and Philip Will. This is the 3rd year that ASTRON has hosted this annual research practicum, in which students get an introduction to how professional astronomical research is conducted. The students learned some of the basics of reducing LOFAR pulsar data by investigating commissioning data collected over the Christmas break. They identified known pulsars in the data and even searched for new ones! |
