Description: | The above image shows the partial solar eclipse of January 4, 2011, as seen from LOFAR at around 140 MHz. The four figures (starting from top left to bottom right) are snapshots made from about 20 minutes of data, during the time range of approximately 8.40 UTC to 10.00 UTC. Of course, at around 10.00 UTC, the eclipse is over and you can see the full (radio) sun. Ironically, the sky was too cloudy for us to see the eclipse at optical frequencies but we get by with a glimpse at radio frequencies using LOFAR.
