Observing pulsars and fast transients with LOFAR

Submitter: Ben Stappers
Description: "Observing pulsars and fast transients with LOFAR" (Stappers et al. 2011) has been accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics and is now available on astro-ph:

http://arxiv.org/abs/1104.1577v1

This 35-page paper describes the many different observing modes that LOFAR offers for observing pulsars and fast transients, as well as the exciting science that will come from observing these at low radio frequencies. There are a whopping 19 figures in the paper (shown here), which present many of the highlights from commissioning observations made during the roll-out.

It is with immense pride that we share this moment with so very many people who have worked incredibly hard to get LOFAR to this stage. Our sincerest thanks and congratulations to the entire LOFAR team!
