The Netherlands signs up for SKA

| Description: | On the 2nd of April 2011, the Founding Board of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project was established. Nine countries signed on the dotted line of a letter of intent that seeks to push the project forward over the coming months. The aim is to establish a legal entity for the SKA and an associated Governing Board, recruit a new director, and adequately resource the Pre-construction Execution Plan (PEP). The image above, shows Patricia Vogel signing the Letter of Intent on behalf of the General Director of NWO. In their first meeting, the Founding Board confirmed Jodrell Bank Observatory (JBO) as the location of the new SKA Project Office (SPO).
