Description: | This Sunday, the Lofar Tafel foundation, in close cooperation with ASTRON and Het Drentse Landschap, will organize a LOFAR DAY in Exloo. The foundation is an initiative of local restaurants and other entrepreneurs to make inhabitants and tourists more aware of the fact that the centre of the world’s largest radio telescope is just around the corner. From 11:00 o’clock onwards, the village of Exloo will be transformed into LOFAR City, with music, food from heaven, and a market of local products. Astronomer Roy Smits (ASTRON) will give presentations in the mobile planetarium of NOVA, while students of the Hanze Institute of Technology in Assen will show their magic tricks with Sensor Applications. Transport is available for visiting the LOFAR Central Core. Professional guides will lead you through the unique nature reserve area that is forming around LOFAR to the famous "Super Terp", the centre of a telescope that extends over most of Europe. |
