Today's Colloquium: SRT: the new large single dish in Sardinia

Submitter: Andrea Possenti (OAC)
Description: The Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT) represents one of the flagship projects of the italian National Institute for Astrophysics. It is a fully steerable 64m single dish radio telescope equipped with an active surface, enabling observations over a very wide range of frequencies, ranging from 0.3 GHz up to 110 GHz. I will report on the current status of the commissioning of the instrument and the perspectives, with particular emphasis on the use of SRT in the studies of radio pulsars.
