First fringes at Metsahovi with the new dBBC

| Description: | Metsahovi radio observatory has recently upgraded their VLBI system with a new Mark5B+ and digital BaseBand Converters. The new backend will substitute the old analogue BBC rack that has performed so bad lately. We conducted the first VLBI attempt on the 2012.12.19 at X-band between Metsahovi and Wettzell. We observed J0555+3948 at S / X-band and successfully detected fringes. Metsahovi radio telescope is ready to participate in the next EVN session with the new system. |
