Description: ASTRON is preparing for next-generation LOFAR operations by developing TMSS. The Telescope Manager Specification System is a brand-new software application for the specification, administration, and scheduling of LOFAR observations that will enable the required support for LOFAR2.0 use cases, while also streamlining LOFAR operations and improving the adaptability and maintainability of LOFAR software for future extensions.

The TMSS project started in January 2020. Over the past year, it progressed steadily in various areas, involving project administration and reporting, task specification, and dynamic scheduling to support prioritized science and operational use cases. This set of functionalities will be released in production at the end of the first development phase of TMSS, which is planned for coming June.

Communication to stakeholders has been imperative over the course of the project. We have achieved this through daily images, newsletters, talks, demos. From today, we are making a next step in this area. Users will be able to track the project progress through the TMSS infographics - https://support.astron.nl/confluence/display/public/TMSS+Infographic - which are shown in the figure here. This dashboard provides a quick and insightful summary of the overall progress of the project. The infographics provide concise detailed information of the completion level of the various development areas and use cases, and clarify the focus for the current and future developments sprints.

We see the TMSS infographics as a very important tool to communicate the up-to-date status of our project for the remainder of phase 1. We expect they will be particularly useful also during the next TMSS development phase, which will start in June and that will realize support for additional use cases and further improvements to the operational workflows.
