Update on Upgrade Milky Way Path

| Description: | In the Daily Image of 30 June 2021, we introduced the project 'Upgrade Milky Way Path' where we announced the impending update of the 2.5 km trail near the Westerbork telescopes. Along this trail, there are 22 information signs regarding the Milky Way, our solar system and radio astronomy. That meant 22 times a new: - design - colour - text - pictures - scale model - question (and hidden answer) Thanks to several colleagues, the texts for these signs are final now. The overall design has been approved as well and Sjouke Kuindersma and Jorrit Siebenga have started with dismantling, painting and reinstalling the signs. On the picture you see the first new information sign about Jupiter, which was installed this week. The Milky Way Path is now more appealing to non-Dutch speakers, as in the new design one side is in English. It is a bit difficult to see on the picture, but the scale model of the planets in the centre has also been replaced. Together with the black paint and the new design, it looks really beautiful! Step by step all information signs will be replaced by signs in the same lay-out. We really look forward to seeing the end result and we hope you will pay this trail a visit soon! |
