| Description: | Maintenance is testing an experimental approach on anchoring the groundplane of our LBA antennas. The traditional way is using pegs or screw anchors. Both methods have the disadvantage, that the groundsheet is penetrated, which allows excessive growth of weeds on the groundplane. A brainstorm session has led to this experimental solution, which performance we will monitor this autumn and early spring, when LOFAR is exposed to higher wind loads. The blocks have two attachment points, this way we make sure the dipole angles will not be compromised. |
