| Description: | The second Friday in December is Purple Friday: an opportunity to show solidarity with LGBTIQ+ people by wearing the colour purple. This event originated in schools, but is now becoming common in universities and other workplaces. For some more details, take a look at https://workplacepride.org/event/paarse-vrijdag-2022-12-09-2/2022-12-09/ For the second year in a row, many ASTRON/JIVE colleagues — and their horses, wizards, Zoom backgrounds, etc — dressed up in purple to mark the occasion. While only a few of us were able to get together in person, a lot of photos (and the occasional joke) were exchanged online. While we had fun, this event has a serious purpose and it's important that we take a stand against homophobia, transphobia, and discrimination in all its other forms. |
