The workshop group working together

Submitter: Corne Lukken
Description: The use of automated processes in software development and maintenance are becoming increasingly important. No matter if it is testing, linting, packaging or deploying most of these steps are typically performed by developers. However, relying on the discretion of developers is error prone as developers might forget or the knowledge to run these tasks can get lost.

In the CI/CD working group we create ready to use templates and in depth knowledge bases to automate modern continuous integration and continuous delivery tasks. This saves developers time and ensures these tasks are always run in the same way. Our working group actively shares and refines our products. This allows the whole of ASTRON to understand and use these tools and integrate them into Gitlab.

A big part of this effort goes into understanding the needs in software development at ASTRON and educating our colleges about the near endless amount of possibilities when it comes to modern integrations and automated tasks.

Recently we organized a very successful workshop that had ample discussion, knowledge transfer and brainstorming about ideas. We would very much like to do it again and would like for you to register so we can get to know your use case too. So if you want to better utilize and automate your infrastructure register for a workshop in the second half of 2023 depending on registration by emailing kamphuis@astron.nl
