Description: | Very Long Baseline Interferometry produces the highest resolution images of astrophysical radio sources. But it is also a powerful observing technique to measure the Earth on global scales and determine absolute source positions. Geodetic VLBI contributes significantly to the International Terrestrial Reference Frame, and astrometric surveys have by now resulted in the third realization of the International Celestial Reference Frame. Furthermore, VLBI is the only observing technique that is sensitive to the full set of Earth orientation parameters. This talk will give an overview of the principles of geodetic and astrometric VLBI, the models used for the analysis, and the data products. |
