Description: | Last weekend, our Communications team participated in the Innofuture children's festival in Hardenberg as part of the newly established Maak & Ontdek consortium. This premier regional event attracted more than 5,000 visitors, where children and young people explored the fascinating world of technology. Together with our consortium partners, we showcased exciting possibilities in science, technology, and circularity. Our black hole experiment and VR space travel experience were particular highlights, allowing children to engage with astronomy in hands-on ways alongside other interactive activities, mini-workshops, and creative challenges. Maak & Ontdek brings together ASTRON, Bibliotheek Hardenberg, Doc33, FabLab Coevorden, IT Hub, and Rensenlab. Made possible through the Regio Deal Zuid- en Oost-Drenthe II initiative, this collaboration extends our educational outreach and connects us with the next generation of potential scientists and engineers in our region. The partnership aligns perfectly with ASTRON's mission to advance astronomical research while fostering scientific curiosity in our local community. Through Maak & Ontdek, we can share our passion for discovery with young minds in new and creative ways. Seeing so many enthusiastic young people eager to learn about science and technology was truly rewarding. Events like these demonstrate the vital importance of public engagement in our work and show how we can make complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting for everyone. |
