ASTRON presents new logo

Submitter: Femke Boekhorst
Description: ASTRON presents a new logo for the organisation, as part of the new ASTRON house style. In the pas six months there have been many changes in the organisation. The focus of the institute has sharpened; the trend continues towards concentrating efforts on radio astronomy, in particular on operating and exploiting current and new radio telescope facilities, like the WSRT (the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope) and LOFAR (the Low Frequency Array), and on playing a crucial role in the technical, scientific and political development of the Square Kilometer Array (the SKA). With these means, as well as through the development of novel and innovative technologies and the pursuit of fundamental astronomical research, ASTRON aims to make discoveries in radio astronomy happen. As a result of these changes, ASTRON has a new name:

The Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy

This new name is accompanied by a new logo. This logo will appear on all ASTRON publications, such as the recently published new edition of the ASTRON News letter, which can be found here: http://www.astron.nl/p/Outreach_publications.htm You can also find the new house style on the ASTRON website in the banner on top of the webpages. A nice touch is the end of the parabaloid of the letter 'R' which seems to go through the line at the bottom of the banner. This part of the new house style of ASTRON will also appear on brochures and for example on the ASTRON annual report. The new logo can of course also be found in letters and on envelopes of ASTRON.

The logo can be downloaded from the website in different formats: http://www.astron.nl/p/Outreach_logo.htm
