Today's Colloquium: The complex gas environment of Active Galactic Nuclei: emission and absorption in the X-ray band - Elisa Constantini (SRON)

Description: Active Galactic nuclei (AGN) are believed to be powered by a supermassive black hole. Many gas phases, with dramatically different physical characteristics reside in such systems. In this talk I'll review our current knowledge on the gas and AGN physics obtained thanks to the high resolution X-ray spectroscopy made available by the Chandra and XMM-Newton observatories.
