LOFAR Family Meeting 2022

| Description: | The 2022 edition of the LOFAR Family Meeting took place on June 13-17 in Cologne. After two long years of pandemic, marked by countless online events, it was nice for LOFAR researchers to finally see each other (again) in person! The LOFAR Family Meeting brings together active LOFAR users and researchers involved or interested in LOFAR science to share new exciting scientific results and to discuss about the past, present, and future of LOFAR. The meeting was organised by GLOW and featured ~160 participants spanning a wide range of institutes, expertise, and academic levels. The program was packed with talks and posters covering all topics of LOFAR’s extremely broad science case. Additional sessions provided the opportunity for participants to get up to speed with the LOFAR2.0 upgrade, provide feedback on LOFAR operations and development, and “dream” about the long-term future of LOFAR in the broadest context. To make our stay even more pleasant, the conference was hosted in a fantastic venue, right next to a beautiful park and lake. And it’s on that lake that the first edition of the LOFAR paddle boat race took place (for more information check the exclusive footage by Wim in #random)! The winners of the race were awarded 10 hours of LOFAR observing time. Let’s hope to see more of such (boat) races at future Family Meetings! Looking forward to seeing many new and familiar faces at the next LOFAR Family Meeting, which will take place in 2023 in Olsztyn (Poland)! |
