Radio bursts reveal feisty magnetic arches
An international team has discovered a new type of radio emission originating from a red dwarf star.
Radio astronomers join global standards body seeking to address satellite interference
The Committee on Radio Astronomy Frequencies (CRAF) has been admitted as an I-member of the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR), the international body that sets standards to prevent electronic devices from interfering with each other.
Astronomers pinpoint the source of the brightest one-off fast radio burst ever
An international team of astronomers has localized one of the brightest non-repeating fast radio bursts (FRBs) ever observed to a nearby galaxy.

The JIVE VLBI School Returned!
© JIVE
The school adopted a novel hybrid multi-hub format. Local groups convened in different hubs, including JIVE (the main hub with 45 participants), Pretoria (8), and Budapest (5). Additionally, approximately 60 participants joined the sessions online. The JVS also included streamed tours of the Hartebeesthoek telescope and the EVN correlator room, as well as tours to the Dwingeloo and Westerbork telescopes. Structured tutorials allowed students, in small groups of five with dedicated tutors, to experience the entire VLBI data lifecycle, from observation to calibration and imaging. At the end of the school, each group presented their results and experiences.
We express our greatest thanks to all lecturers, tutors, local individuals, and everyone who contributed to the success of the school and the visits to the telescopes at ASTRON, JIVE, Pretoria, HartRAO, CAMRAS, and all those who participated!
